Transgender murder? US Marine held over death of Filipino prostitute

A U.S. Marine was being held on a warship on Monday after the death of a transgender woman in the Philippines over the weekend.
According to witnesses’ accounts a white man, aged 25 to 30 with a “Marine haircut” met Jeffrey Laude, who was dressed as a woman, at a nightclub in Olongapo City on Saturday night, the New York Times reported.
The pair left the nightclub and checked in to a nearby hotel at around 10:55 p.m. The man left the hotel room alone about 30 minutes later, the Manila Standard Today reported. The victim’s dead body was discovered by a hotel staff at around 11:45 p.m.
Police said the victim’s head was leaning towards the toilet bowl, and was naked with his lower body partially covered with blanket. There were also signs of strangulation, according to Manila Standard Today.
