Man performs mouth to mouth CPR on pet dog, saving it from drowning after it ate a toxic bufo toad

A Key Largo, Florida man saved his drowning dog and brought it back to life with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Andrew Burtschin was returning home from a boating trip when he stopped by a neighbor’s home to chat. Looking towards his own home, he noticed his two dogs, Shadow and Skunk, chewing on something in the yard.

That something actually turned out to be a poisonous bufo toad, as Burstein discovered later.

Shadow, a Golden retriever-pit bull mix, walked towards the water, breathing heavily before she broke into a spasm and fell into the water.

Burtschin reached Shadow after she had been lying facedown in the water for about two minutes. After getting it out of the water, Burtschin performed chest compressions and CPR on her, miraculously saving her from death both by drowning and poisoning.
