Black widow: Japanese woman poisons husband #6, police finally catch on

This week in the Kyoto area, Japanese police arrested a 67-year old widow on suspicion of poisoning her 75 year old husband.
The woman’s first husband died more than 20 years ago due to illness.
She would then remarry four more times and each marriage ended with her husband’s death. The black widow received a total of almost a US$1 million in inheritance and life insurance.
Now on husband number six, she prepared her usual murder kit and poisoned him in December of 2013.
She discovered him dead in the living room and called emergency services, who were unable to revive him.
During the autopsy the coroner noticed something suspicious and took a sample for additional testing. Cyanide was discovered in the man’s system.
When arrested, the woman refused to admit to the killing and is still proclaiming her innocence.
Police will be opening investigations into the deaths of her previous five husbands to see if her claims hold any water.
