Domestic murder: Father kills son who returned home to help out his mom

A 51-year old Taipei man stabbed his only son to death in front of his wife and his son’s girlfriend.
Xiao Chen, the 26-year old victim, and his girlfriend returned to his parents home over the weekend to secretly give his mother some money for her household expenses.
Upon seeing his son, Xiao Chen’s father started yelling at him and telling him he was a miserable son and a slacker. His father also accused him of avoiding his family responsibilities as Xiao Chen refused to live at home.
The two began to argue and as Xiao Chen turned to leave his father grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his son. He stabbed him eight times in the chest and back. Xiao Chen’s mother called police while his girlfriend attempted to stop the bleeding.
Xiao Chen was rushed to hospital by the emergency services, but doctors were unable to save him.
Neighbors said that Xiao Chen would secretly give money to his mother as his father was irresponsible with money. Neighbors say the old man may have been suffering from some undiagnosed mental disorder as he would often argue and cuss out his neighbors over imagined slights.
When police interviewed Xiao Chen’s father he said that he wanted to teach his son a lesson.
