Carmen Yarira: missing actress body found decomposing in Mexico City water tank

The decomposed body of an aspiring young actress was found in a water tank in Mexico City nearly a year after she disappeared.
Carmen Yaria Esparza Noriega, 27, was last seen on February 18, 2014 leaving her Mexico City apartment in gym clothes. Esparza Noriega, a psychology graduate who had moved to Mexico city to pursue an acting career, had recently broken up with her businessman boyfriend, who paid her rent at the luxurious Grand Chapultepec apartment complex in the city’s financial district.
After Esparza Noriega’s disappearance, family members and friends feared that she had been kidnapped and forced into a sex trafficking ring. They set up a social media campaign on Facebook and posted her photos in the streets, hoping that someone would recognize the young woman.
Three weeks ago, residents of the Grand Chapultepec apartment complex began to complain about a weird taste in their water. When the building’s water tanks were inspected by city officials on December 23, they discovered Esparza Noriega’s badly decomposed body in the water tank, which services around 50 units in the building.
The body was identified using Esparza Noriega’s breast and hip implants. An autopsy revealed that Esparza Noriega had been strangled to death.
Mexico City police are focused on interrogating Esparza Noriega’s ex-boyfriend. The two broke up a year ago because she became romantically involved with another man and had been planning to move out of the apartment.
