Turkey considers leaving World Wide Web following series of spats with social media giants

A top Turkish minister has said his country could leave the World Wide Web, just weeks after a top court lifted the short-lived government ban on social network Twitter. Communications Minister Lutfi Elvan reportedly told journalists of the possibly the government could replace the standard infrastructure with a national locked protocol, one which supresses user's ability to express opinions and views to a global audience. He's also quoted as saying other European Union countries were considering similar moves. Turkish authorities have denied any the allegations of the further internet crackdown.
