Firefighters in New Jersey recently responded to a 4-alarm fire that greatly impacted a highly regarded building in Hunterdon County. The blaze started at approximately 2 in the morning on Monday and in the end, the Sergeantsville Inn is likely destroyed.

Firefighters in New Jersey recently responded to a 4-alarm fire that has left a highly regarded building in ruins. 

The blaze started at approximately 2am on Monday and it took first responders hours to control the flames, leaving the Sergeantsville Inn likely destroyed.

That is sad news to locals, as the historic building has been around since the 1700s and is well known in the area, partly because George Washington was once a visitor of the inn. 
Delaware Township Mayor told WCAU, "This is the center of our town. This is the place where senators and assembly people come. This is a place where people celebrate their birthdays or anniversaries — their life events."
