A dog was recently rescued by concerned residents in New York City and has since found a forever home.

For about 10 ten years, the homeless shepherd mix roamed the grounds of both Highbridge Park and Inwood Hill Park. Over the years, a number of neighbors noticed him and started caring for him and bringing him food.

This past week, however, their concern for him grew, as he's an older canine and they didn't think he would be able to survive the freezing temperatures.

The problem was the dog, which some neighbors call Ricky or alternatively Charlie, had eluded previous attempts to catch him, so all of the residents who decided he needed to be rescued knew it wasn't going to be easy.

Despite his desire to avoid capture and the cold weather, the kind-hearted team was successfully able to coax him into a vehicle so they could take him to get some veterinary help this past Sunda
