European based Airbus Defence and Space has been testing a military air tanker called the A400M and thus far, it’s been a big success.

The air tanker has demonstrated its ability at in-air refueling to a pair of F/A-18 fighter jets simultaneously in Spain. Airbus Defence and Space further explains, "In the course of four flights, the A400M performed 74 contacts and dispensed 27.2 tonnes of fuel to the Spanish Air Force aircraft."

The air-to-air refueling was done at altitudes between 20,000 and 33,000 feet. During the test flights, the aircraft were traveling at airspeeds between 180 and 300 knots.

The A400M has a fuel carrying capacity of just over 50 tons, however additional cargo hold tanks allow for increased storage. The standard version of the A400M comes
