Organic Cotton Interview

What if pesticides are in our water and food? What if that effects prenatal development?

My guest on the show is LaRhea Pepper from textileexchange.org

Many people don't care about organic cotton. They don't understand why it is important.

If you are indifferent than let me ask you 2 questions:

1. Can today's pesticides be traced back to Nazi Germany?

2. Do you like watching kids drink water with pesticides?

I am not a scientist. I am also not a historian. So, I make not be 100% right about all of my accusations in this video but I do know that I am not 100% WRONG.

Personally, I prefer not to focus on the word "organic." In my world, a t shirt shouldn't say "organic." It should say: "pesticide free."

It's been said that small amounts of pesticides in our water isn't bad. Try explaining that to your cells.

Sure, you can survive while investing small amounts of pesticides. However, do you want to survive or do you want to thrive?

Your cells probably don't like small amounts of poison. In my view, we are eating small doses of poison over long periods of time.

I want to hook this lady up with an Epigenetic Scientist. I want to see if my suspicions are true.

I have a feeling that it will be shown that pesticides create negative epigenetic markers in developing fetuses.

As I stated earlier. I am not a scientist. I don't know if "negative" is even the right word here.

With that being said, I doubt that small amounts of pesticides are neutral to our system.

The good news is that the organic cotton industry is growing. It's around 20% of all cotton crops. I want to see 100%

I want to witness the development of an organic cottonseed oil industry.

Right now, the organic cotton seeds are fed to livestock. I want to see that continue because we do drink cow milk for example.

In addition to that, I'd like to see cottonseed oil go organic. You can find organic oils in health food stores.

Organic cottonseed oil is one of the only types of oil that I don't see. I've even seen organic coffee bean oil.

Today's episode is a balance of humor and sapience. LaRhea Pepper is doing amazing work.

It's a shame that she even needs to advocate for this. The earth has been around for billions of years.

Pesticides have only been around for 70 or so years. It was a phase that served us at one time.

Pesticides no longer serve us. I understand that it increases production but at what cost?

This episode will be on my iTunes podcast as well. Please share this information.

We need to reach the idiots that are ignorant to this. I am talking about your average person that says: "everything is bad for you" or "what's the big deal" or "it's not killing me."

Well, you are a grown adult that is making a choice. What about the fish that we eat? Do the fish have a choice? Do babies have a choice?

We don't need pesticides. We can figure other ways to increase production.
