USA: Meet San Diego's superhero guardians, the Xtreme Justice League

Marvel’s Avengers or DC’s Justice League may fight for truth and righteousness, but they aren’t as real as this group. The San Diego Police Department are now receiving extra help from the Xtreme Justice League. The group helps drunks, mediates arguments and reports emergencies to local authorities.

The team consists of 25 members who patrol the City in Motion’s streets in superhero costumes every Saturday and Sunday in order to fight injustice and help people in need.

SOT, Vortex, member of the Xtreme Justice League (English): "Villains, or anyone who crosses paths with us in the wrong way. Whether it's people who are drunk or abusive, people who assault women."

Armed with pepper spray and Tasers, the group includes ex-soldiers, security personnel and students, and was founded by 'Mr Xtreme' in 2006.

SOT, Violet, member of the Xtreme Justice League (English): "I think it's exactly what Batman does in Gotham. I think that what we do here is exactly how he does it, he just has fancy gadgets. We don't have any of that, but maybe one day."

They may not be able to fly faster than the speed of sound, turn invisible or shoot webs from their fingers, but at least the league hasn’t had to deal with any supervillains. And like any good comic, the group almost always comes out on top.
