"My Golden Ring Has Broken" is a simple, traditional Turkish folk song in which a young man yearns to be with his true love: his first cousin. He makes the typical grand promises of what he will do, but in the chorus admits that she lives in a remote rural spot on a stream that flows into a lake. But her saz (the traditional Turkish folk instrument) and her voice have left him feeling as though he is dying for her.
