Four people been charged in the killing of a teen in Chicago. 15-year-old Demario Bailey was murdered after defending his twin brother during a robbery attempt in broad daylight this past Saturday.

The two had been walking to basketball practice when they were ambushed by a group of four people. Reportedly, they began rifling though the boys’ pockets and Demario yelled ‘Get off my brother’ before pushing one of the robbers away.

A suspect brandished a gun and fired. Demario was struck in the chest and passed away moments after the bullet entered his body. His identical twin brother witnessed the shooting.

Police now have four suspects in custody. Over the weekend, 17-year-old Carlos Johnson was arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery, armed robbery and first-degree murder.

On Monday, three others were detained and charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery with a firearm and two counts of murder.

The day of the murder was one of the rare times Demario and his brother had been allowed to walk down the city streets alone.

One of Demario’s relatives remarked “It doesn't make sense for these kids to be dying like this. My cousin was on his way to play basketball. He wasn't a drug dealer, he wasn't a gang banger, he was an upstanding kid.”

The victim was killed three days before his 16th birthday.
