A 19-year-old student in California is now in the hospital after suffering from a life-threatening allergic reaction. Yaasmeen Castanada was feeling sick on Thanksgiving, so she reportedly took her friend’s medication.

Not long after consuming the antibiotic pill, her throat was burning, as were her mouth and eyes. Her mother, Laura rushed her to the hospital where she was placed on a ventilator but her body was soon covered in large blisters.
Her family soon learned that she suffered a severe allergic reaction known as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, where the sufferers' bodies burn from the inside out.
Over the duration of four days, Laura watched her child’s skin burn to the point where her body was 40 percent damaged. She was soon transferred to UC Irvine Regional Burn Center, but her condition worsened and her body was left 70 percent damaged.
Castanada, who has a 4-month-old child, is still fighting and her family is hoping and praying she’ll stay strong.
Laura is now warning others “..don't share medication, don't give someone else your medication, don't offer medication. Another thing also, go get yourself checked out and your kids checked out, because you don't know what you're allergic to.”
The family has set up a GoFundMe page for assistance during this difficult time.
