Thomas Cook's Green period ends with early ousting of Harriet

From the brink of bankruptcy to the bin. Far from being rewarded for saving travel company Thomas Cook boss Harriet Green is being given the boot a year early.

Taking over is Peter Fankhauser, who she spared when she culled top management on joining in 2012 when shares were worth 14 pence. Today they are around 113 pence, but falling on the news of her ousting, by as much as 23% at one point.

The announcement accompanied reported annual earnings before interest and tax up 44% to around 400 million euros, or roughly the value of the drop in the value of the company on Wednesday.
