Aaron Lewis Botches National Anthem During World Series
At game 5 of the World Series, Aaron Lewis became the latest talented individual to have some trouble while singing the US national anthem.
Over the years many talented individuals have had a tough time singing America's national anthem.
The latest member of that group is Aaron Lewis from the band Staind.
His just happened to occur at the World Series, one of the country’s most watched and anticipated sporting events.
During his October 26th performance before the start of Game 5, he skipped part of a lyric and repeated another twice.
The one he missed was, “twilight’s last gleaming.”
In its place, he belted out a passage traditionally sung later, resulting in the fairly nonsensical, “What so proudly we hailed were so gallantly streaming."
He course corrected by singing it again when the right time rolled around, but sadly the fix wasn’t enough to make viewers forget the earlier gaff.
Later, Lewis posted an apology and a bit of an explanation on Facebook.
He wrote, “All I can say is I'm sorry and ask for the Nation's forgiveness. My nerves got the best of me and I am completely torn up about what happened. America is the greatest country in the world. The Star-Spangled Banner means so much to so many, including myself. I hope everyone can understand the intensity of the situation and my true intent of this performance.”
