French medical team trains for Ebola aid mission to Guinea

Rigorous training has become mandatory for any health care worker preparing to venture to Ebola-plagued regions of West Africa.

This team from France, is preparing to venture into Guinea...to lend a hand in the struggle to contain the virus which has killed nearly 5000 people across west Africa.

But there are lesson to be learned - the correct use of protective gear being among the most critical. It's a potentially life-saving procedure not to be overlooked while in the field.

Doctor Marie-Laure de Severac says travelling to Guinea may be dangerous... but it's her job.

"Quite simply because I'm a doctor. When you're a doctor it's good to treat, or try to treat, people who are truly in need. So it's part of my job, I think it's normal."

The disease is spread through direct contact with bodily fluids of an infected person.

The team is well aware that 240 health workers have been killed while treating Ebola patients.
