New York Ebola case: Craig Spencer returns from Guinea, goes bowling, gets Ebola

A New York doctor who recently returned from Guinea where he had been treating Ebola patients tested positive for the disease on Thursday, becoming the ninth person to be treated for the disease in the United States.
Doctor Craig Spencer, 33, was put in isolation at Bellevue Hospital on Thursday after calling his employers Doctors without Borders to inform them he was running a temperature.
Spencer left Guinea on October 14 and travelled via Brussels, arriving in New York’s JFK airport on October 17 where his temperature was recorded as 98.7 degrees.
Since returning from Guinea, Spencer had been monitoring his temperature twice daily for signs of a fever, one of the early signs of the Ebola virus.
He contacted his employers on Thursday after recording a fever of 103 degrees.
The day before he was diagnosed, Spencer reportedly went for a jog, travelled on the city’s subway, visited two bowling alleys before returning home in an Uber taxi.
Health officials said three people who have been in close contact with Spencer, his fiancee and two friends, are now in quarantine and will be monitored for symptoms for a period of 21 days.
