Ebola-Inspired Halloween Costumes Expected To Be A Controversial Trend

It’s predicted that Ebola will be a big costume theme this year, but many find the potential trend to be offensive and insensitive.

Halloween is a time for fun, friends, and loads of candy.

That is, unless somebody’s wearing an Ebola-inspired costume. Then it becomes a holiday filled with arguments and outrage.

It’s predicted that the deadly virus will be a big theme this year as it’s timely and lends itself to a wide variety of adaptations.

Social media feeds are already filling up with hemorrhagic fever-related hazmat outfits and advice.

At least one manufacturer has even managed to get an Ebola containment ensemble to market just in time for Halloween festivities.

Many, however, feel that it’s offensive and insensitive to make play of such devastation.

A health professional working in Philadelphia said that the theme ‘rubs her the wrong way’.

She added, “Normally I think that irony and humor is funny, but this thing with the costumes, is it really that funny? I mean, Ebola’s not even under control yet.”

Others have expressed similar sentiments on sites like Twitter.

One man vowed to de-friend – and destroy – those who don a virus-themed Halloween get-up.

Whether or not the people talking about their plans go through with them, and what reaction they get if they do, remains to be seen.
