Police in New York City have released video footage of a person throwing a smoke bomb into a restaurant in Manhattan. The incident occurred on October 10th, shortly before 5 in the evening.

The man had crept out of an MTA subway emergency exit. He slowly lifted the hatch and looked around before tossing the smoke bomb.

After it was thrown, the suspect swiftly disappeared through the same exit door he emerged from. The bomb emitted a stream of red colored smoke.

Police officials say he threw the canister into an outside seating area for diners. A 30-year-old man who was bartending at the affected restaurant commented “We all ran. We didn’t know what happened. We thought a pipe exploded. Then this red smoke was coming out powerfully. It was burning everyone’s eyes and making everyone cough.”

The male suspect is said to be in his 20s and has blond, wavy hair. At the time of the occurrence, he was wearing a multi-colored t-shirt, a black baseball cap and black gloves.

Law enforcement is deeming the incident a case of reckless endangerment. Nobody was injured from the smoke bomb.
