HK Mong Kok tense after violence

The tension in the Mong Kok district of Hong Kong was evident in the wake of the clashes overnight between pro-democracy protesters and their opponents.

The democracy campaigners are vowing to carry on regardless.

Some are accusing the pro-Beijing opposition of orchestrated harassment.

(SOUNDBITE)(Cantonese) DANIEL TANG, PRO-DEMOCRACY PROTESTER, SAYING:

"They have a strategy (this man says). In the morning they get these people to harass you so you can't rest and you can only regenerate your energy slowly. In the afternoon they may get people to attack you and beat you up, and even use strong violence and beat people up until they bleed, like yesterday."

Police said they'd arrested 19 people since Friday.

There are unconfirmed reports that some of those held are members of Triad criminal gangs.

The pro-democracy protesters are demanding the resignation of Hong Kong's chief executive, which he's rejected.

They also want China to reverse a
