If you’re headed out for a bite to eat in Port Allen, Louisiana, don’t forget your gun as it could earn you a discount.

Firearm-toting patrons of Bergeron’s Restaurant are given 10 percent off of their meal.

According to the owner, it’s been a well-received promotion.

It was originally intended for law enforcement personnel, but eventually regular customers packing heat wanted in.

The owner said was happy to oblige and explained, “My friends and relatives would come in with their guns on their holster. I felt good about that. It made me feel safer that they were there with their gun so why not include all good citizens with the officers too.”

Customers have also commented that they feel a greater sense of security when they’re in a room filled with armed individuals.

A couple of them pointed out it likely lowers the odds of a break-in or robbery, because no one's going to try to steal from a group of people with guns.

Among the 500 or so customers that come in everyday, the establishment’s owner says he gives out around 15 to 20 discounts.
