When I am Housekeeping for You was recorded by Ben Selvin & His Orchestra on labels Harmony 1084H and Velvet Tone 2084. The music is from the 1929 Paramount musical movie "Battle of Paris" aka "The Gay Lady" starring Gertrude Lawrence. When the movie was shown in theaters, the 78s of the songs in the movie were sold in theater lobbies under the Paramount Publix label. In the case of "Housekeeping", Ben Selvin recorded as the Paramounteers with Annette Hanshaw, vocalist and the version of "When I am Housekeeping" in this vid was from Paramount Publix SR1070P released November 27, 1929. Ben Selvin was director, Red Nichols and Tommy Thunen, trumpets; Jimmy Dorsey, clarinet and alto sax; Pee Wee Russell and Fud Livingston, clarinet and tenor sax; Irving Brodsky, piano; Tommy Felline, banjo; Jack Hansen, bass brass; and George Beebe, drums. This was the first movie that presented Cole Porter's music (The All Fall in Love), and (Here Comes the Bandwagon). "Housekeeping" was composed by Howard Dietz and Jay Gorney. Scenes in the vid were from the 1920 silent "Scarecrow". It was written and directed by Buster Keaton and Edward Cline and also starred Keaton and Big Joe.
