The Philadelphia Police Department is currently searching for a man who allegedly robbed a store using a piece of fruit as a threatening weapon.

On Tuesday morning, the suspect rode a bicycle to a corner store located in the western part of the city. He parked the bike next to the exterior façade of the building and walked into the establishment.

He took some monetary bills out, making it appear as though he was waiting in line to pay for an item. When the suspect approached the counter, he stuck his right hand in his pocket, pretending he had a gun.

The 24-year-old clerk later told police the man demanded cigarettes and money. The store staffer gave him the cash he wanted and the male fled the scene.

When police reviewed the surveillance footage of the crime, they determined he stole a banana from the shop and placed it inside his shirt, presumably to simulate a firearm. Investigators have released the clip and are asking the public for help identifying the suspect.

The suspect stands between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11 and weighs roughly 140 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a hoodie that read Pacific Coast Hollister 19 on the front.
