Playing a musical instrument requires high levels of determination and concentration. Flutist Yuki Ota, from Japan recently showed the world she has both of those qualities.

On Monday, she performed at the Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition. As she was playing, a butterfly decided to join her on stage, not next to her but on her.

At first, the butterfly landed on her head, right near her hairline. Moments later, it moved onto her forehead, before resting on her glabella, or the area between her eyebrows.

Impressively, Ota did not bat an eye. She continued playing as if nothing was exploring her face. The butterfly crept over to her left eyebrow and continuously fluttered its wings.

It stayed in the same spot for the remainder of her performance. 29-year-old Ota didn’t swipe away the butterfly until she finished playing.

The judges didn’t seem to be bothered by the butterfly either, as Ota moved onto the second round in the competition .

The Orchestra posted footage of her performance to YouTube with a caption that reads “What a moment yesterday! Japanese Youkie Ota was joined by a butterfly on stage, that seemed to enjoy her playing.”
