Family and friends have attended the funeral of US comedian Joan Rivers who died on Thursday.
The occasion drew a host of celebrities turning it into a big showbiz affair which is apparently what Rivers had wanted.
Among the notables who turned out to remember Rivers were comedians Kathy Griffin, Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg; “Fashion Police” colleague and friend Kelly Osbourne; Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick; and celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz.
During a 50-year career Rivers was known for her raspy voice, numerous cosmetic procedures and the catch phrase “Can we talk?”
The sharp-tongued comedian died at a New York hospital where she had been rushed to a week earlier after she had stopped breathing during an outpatient procedure at a medical centre.
