Retrial Of California Attorney Accused Of Planting Drugs Begins

Kent Easter, an attorney from California who is accused of planting drugs in a woman’s car, is once again in court.

His original trial back in November resulted in a deadlocked jury and the case is now being retried.
The alleged crime occurred in February of 2011.
Police were contacted by a caller who said that Irvine resident and PTA volunteer Kelli Peters was on drugs and had a stash of them in her vehicle.
Police did indeed find a bag filled with Vicodin, Percocet, and marijuana in her vehicle, but during a search of her home they found none.
Soon after the focus of the investigation was shifted to Easter, who was discovered to have made the call, despite his attempts to conceal his identity.
Officers believe his motivation in trying to frame Peters was revenge, as he believed she had mistreated her son at school.
Throughout the last trial and the current one, neither Easter nor his attorney are denying that Easter made the call to the police.
The lawyer of the accused is asserting that it was Easter’s wife who did the actual planting of the bag. Jill Easter plead guilty to false imprisonment and has already completed a 120 day jail sentence.
