Coast Guard Crew Makes Sick Little Boy's Dream Come True

Recently, the U.S. Coast Guard granted the wish of a little boy in North Carolina. 7-year-old Isaac Simmons lives with something called Hypo-Plastic Right Heart Syndrome.
Coast Guard officials often get credit for heroic rescues, so it stands to reason their members have very soft hearts when it comes to kids.
Recently, the U.S. Coast Guard granted the wish of a little boy in North Carolina. 7-year-old Isaac Simmons lives with a syndrome known as Hypo-Plastic Right Heart.
For much of his young life, Isaac told his family he wanted to be a pilot specializing in rescues. In an effort to make his dream come true, The Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Coast Guard teamed up.
Isaac’s weekend adventure started when he donned his miniature flight suit and went for a cruise in a Jayhawk helicopter. While patrolling over the Outer Banks, Coast Guard officials and Isaac received a distress call for a stranded swimmer, all staged for Isaac’s benefit. He watched as the crew hoisted the would-be distressed swimmer aboard the chopper.
From there, the young boy assisted in the first aid efforts before landing at a local medical center. When Isaac returned to the air station, he was met by a cheering crowd. He also received awards and a set of naval aviator wings from the commanding officer.
Day two of his adventure involved him touring the Aviation Technical Training Center.
