The New Orleans jazzman, Jelly Roll Morton, ends Lazy Luziana Weekends. Ferdinand "Jelly Roll" Morton composed Load of Coal and recorded the music for the Victor Talking Machine Co. at Victor's 46th St. Labs in New York City June 2, 1930, at the same session in which "Oil Well" V23321 was recorded. Load of Coal was released on Victor's 10 inch Black & Gold label 23429B, matrix BVE62183. Hot Peppers for this session were Morton, Leader & Piano; Ward Pinkett, tpt; Lee L Blair, bjo; Crazy Cole, drums; Geechie Fields, tb; Walter Thomas, Baritone and alto sax; Joe Thomas, cl; and Billy Taylor, tuba.
