In Search of Cliches...
Get "Lost in Francelation", and figure out what's really behind all those wacky French cliches! For all those who love France but don't quite understand what it's all 'about'...
Ever since I was young, I've wanted to know - Why is France so fascinating? So inviting? So...je ne sais quoi? What about the country inspired this nameless quality, this chic quaintness that stirs people to come here in droves? France is the birthplace of the cliche, whether it's a French Poodle or a ride on the Seine, and I want to know: why here? How did our collective 'cliche' of romance, of art, of luxury, and of European culture in general end up all in the country of France? And do our present day perceptions border on stereotypical cliches?
That is exactly what I'm setting out to uncover in my travels. I am looking for the Classic French person, ambiance, cafe, brasserie, city, town, situation and landscape in order to decide whether cliches really do exist. In doing so I hope to discover as much of what France has to offer as possible, through its many guises, appearances and characters, and I hope you'll join me. On y va!
