Young French-Austrian designer Marina Hoermanseder surprised at Berlin Fashion Week with her upcoming spring-summer collection.
Her latest work challenges preconceptions and pushes boundaries with an erotic, innovative line, combining the finest hand-made sophistication with eccentric designs.
The designer, who studied at Berlin’s ESMOD Fashion School and London’s Central St. Martins College, trained with Alexander McQueen before launching her own brand.
“I was greatly inspired by the 1950s for this collection which is more feminine, more elegant, with free-flowing clothes that are not oppressive,” said the young designer.
Also showing her 2015 spring-summer collection in Berlin was Munich-based designer Irene Luft, with her eponymous luxury Prêt-à-Porter label.
Models took to the runway clad in her trademark slinky lace gowns in nude, ivory and black tones, embellished with the famous German “Plauen Lace” that has become the designer’s fabric of choice.
The gowns offered an elegant compromise between wearable offerings and garments appropriate only for Berlin’s famous club culture.
“Why not wear a nice evening or cocktail dress like those you see in Paris or New York? Here in Berlin, people often dress in jeans or casual wear to go out. I think it’s a shame,” said Luft.
