Internet search giant Google is cracking down on porn by banning the adverts that include sexually explicit content which, up until now, have been shown next to its search results.

Links to the porn sites themselves will still appear on searches.

It is a potentially costly move as advertising accounts for 90 percent of the company’s total revenue, though it would not say how much of that money comes from ads for porn websites.

The new policy blocks underage and non-consensual sexual content, as well prostitution and escort services, but still allows for ads promoting things like strip clubs and adult dating sites.
