Real time data is used in the making of the videos and each one shows how busy the world’s airspace really is.
For the North Atlantic segment, five Oceanic Area Control Centers are featured.
The visualization begins with North American departures and tracks them as they make their way over the ocean.
As they arrive at their destinations, planes begin to take off travelling in the opposite direction.
Both east and westbound planes pass by and swerve around one another, making the air look a bit like a highway with no lanes or medians.
The video also clearly shows how crowded the air over the North Atlantic can get.
While the mix of those factors sounds somewhat terror inducing, watching the carefully choreographed flow of the planes is actually quite soothing.
