Siemens and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are expected to present their formal offer to buy part of the French engineering firm Alstom later. The bid apparently includes a proposition that the French state takes a stake in the company. Their offer will attempt to rival General Electric’s, which was made last month. Also today: a caffeinated college degree – how Starbucks plans to help its employees in the US go to university.
