Prevention is the key. The age for getting screening for various types of cancers including but not limited to cervical or ovarian is still limited for women who are over a certain age; this negates other women who are younger from taking the preventative measures from getting treatment before it can evolve into cancer. Had I known of the treatment options earlier, I could have perhaps avoided my current situation.
This is something that can be changed and should be campaigned and fought for. Thousands of women each year die due to lack of awareness or availability to treatment options because of age, or other circumstances. It is not an issue that needs to be feared or shamed. The more awareness we can bring, the more preventative treatment can be given at earlier ages, and more lives can be saved. All it takes is communication.
