"A 19-year-old made it. He is lucky to be alive after spending 24 hours trapped on a Colorado mountain."

A hiker was recently rescued from the ledge of Longs Peak, which is the tallest summit in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park.

The climber, later identified as 19-year-old Samuel Frappier of Quebec, had gotten stranded on the east side of the mountain while attempting to descend the over 14 thousand foot tall precipice.

He reportedly got stuck on the ledge on a recent Tuesday and used his cellphone to call for help, but rescuers weren’t able to reach him until the following day.

When he was first witnessed, Frappier had been about a thousand feet below the peak on Broadway Ledge. A short-haul helicopter assisted in the rescue effort along with an additional chopper, equipped with surveillance devices and supplies.

Frappier was airlifted to safety and despite having spent 24 hours in treacherous conditions, he didn’t’ encounter any injuries.

He was able to walk and talk at the time he was plucked from the mountain.
