When the weather is warm, drivers have to put extra effort into paying attention as motorcycles are back on the roads.

Police in Excelsior Springs, Missouri recently released footage from a red light cam of an SUV and a bike colliding on the road. 20-year-old Britt Hamilton had been operating the motorcycle.

At an intersection he was traveling straight while the driver of the SUV was making a left hand turn. Unfortunately that motorist failed to yield.

By the time Hamilton hit the brakes it was too late. He rammed into the front end of the SUV and went flying off the bike, his body striking the other vehicle. The impact was so harsh his shoe even flew off.

Fortunately Hamilton was able to get on his feet after the crash and he’s actually not doing too badly, aside from a knot on his leg and a few bumps and bruises. He managed to avoid serious injuries, but Hamilton admits it could have been a lot worse and that he’s thankful he was wearing a helmet.

His bike certainly needs a few parts to get back in operating condition, but as a bright side he got his shoe back.

Excelsior Springs police have released other red light cam videos in the past, one that shows a cringe worthy near miss after a driver runs a red light.
