Lucio Fontana
Rediscovery of a masterpiece
26 April 2014 - 21 June 2014

Starting April 26th, Tornabuoni Art will be presenting at its Parisian space over twenty works, retracing Lucio Fontana’s (1899-1968) creativity since the 1950’s : ceramics, works from the Baroque period, craters, the series of cuts, productions all known under the common title of Concetto Spaziale.

For this occasion, the gallery has the honour of unveiling a masterpiece of the artist, lost for more than 30 years. Le Jour, 1962, is one of the largest gold paintings of Lucio Fontana in collaboration with Jef Verheyen (1932–1984).

This masterpiece is one of the sole artworks of Lucio Fontana to have been realized and documented in front of a camera. Recorded in 1962 during the perforation by Lucio Fontana of a canvas of his friend Jef Verheyen, this documentary will be projected at the gallery and at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris during the retrospective dedicated to the artist starting April 25th 2014.
