Old and new on Rascal Flatts latest country album

Since they first hit the airwaves in 2000, Rascal Flatts have become one of the biggest names in country music.

‘Rewind’ is their latest single, the first from their new album of the same name due out in May.

The band say it marks a change in direction for them.

“Well, I think it’s a good way to sort of scratch the surface and give an indication of what people know and love as old familiar Rascal Flatts and ushering a new era of Rascal Flatts, so I would say the greatest thing that you can anticipate are 15 brand new songs that haven’t been previously released,” says band member Jay DeMarcus.

The trio, made up of Joe Don Rooney and cousins Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus, still very much enjoy working together after all these years.

DeMarcus described their way of working: “The dynamic is very, very great in the studio. The three of us are really good partners and I think it’s a testament to our longevity as a band, too, because we’ve maintained our friendships and relationships over the years to the point where we work really well together,” at which point he broke up laughing as LeVox hugged him. “This is so uncomfortable!” he laughed.

Rascal Flatts’ new album ‘Rewind’ is due out in May, when the trio kicks off the Rewind Tour, with Sheryl Crow as a special guest, and Gloriana serving as their opening act.
