Finding foreign matter in food is never a pleasant thing. A woman in New York City is now telling her story after she reportedly spotted a lizard head in her salad.

31-year-old Robin Sandusky claims she purchased the salad from a deli in Hell’s Kitchen. She picked up her meal and went back to her office in Chelsea.

Once she opened up the container, Sandusky saw something unusual among the kale. Initially, she thought it was asparagus but a closer inspection revealed an arm and eyes.

Hunger didn’t seem to be a problem for Sandusky at that point. She picked up the phone and called the Guy & Gallard store, which is where the salad was bought from.

Staffers offered to give her another salad but she declined. A delivery employee arrived at Sandusky’s office to pick up the unwanted salad. She was given a refund.

Jason Jeffries from Guy & Gallard said no proof was found to verify a reptile was found in the salad, but the company’s satisfaction policy means customers can easily obtain a refund if they’re unhappy.

He also pointed out the store passed its most recent health inspection with flying colors. Regardless, Jeffries promised that the deli would be investigating the complaint.
