Khodorkovsky claims Russia was complicit in Kyiv police violence

Police violence against protesters in Kyiv last month was carried out in agreement with Moscow, according to former Russian oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
He has addressed a crowd in Independence Square, which has been at the heart of anti-government protests.
“I have seen the shields that you used against the bullets,” Khodorkovsky said. “I wanted to cry, it was awful.”
“The authority that did this is out of my control. I want you to know that a completely different Russia exists.”
Khodorkovsky – one of Vladimir Putin’s biggest critics – was freed from prison last year after being pardoned by the Russian President.
He had been jailed for tax evasion and fraud in a case his supporters said was politically motivated.
