00:00Construction of the first elements of the Baltic defence line is underway in Latgale,
00:07the easternmost region of Latvia.
00:10It will consist of concrete structures known as dragon teeth and Lego blocks, which are
00:16anti-mobility obstacles the Latvian National Armed Forces plans to use to protect the external
00:22borders of Latvia and Europe.
00:26The project was agreed upon in January 2024 and intends to strengthen the eastern borders
00:32of Baltic countries, the European Union and NATO.
00:37The structures are being produced by local companies in the city of Daugavpils and will
01:00be placed in areas near the border with Russia and Belarus.
01:05In the future, they will be reinforced with explosives and mines placed in engineering
01:10resource parks which are yet to be built.
