Half-naked activist protests animal cruelty

Animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), staged a protest in front of the China Southern Airlines office building in Taipei on Tuesday (February 25). Specifically, they were protesting how some 360 monkeys were flown on a China Southern Airlines plane to Chicago before heading to a lab in Virginia for animal testing.

According to PETA, the lab is owned by Covance, one of the largest animal testing companies that is notorious for its cruelty against animals. Several investigative reports have revealed evidence that points to the company's serious violation of the United States Animal Welfare Act.

The group said the airline is an accomplice to the act of animal cruelty as it is one of the two remaining major airlines that still agrees to ship primate animals to laboratories.

However, China Southern Airlines responded that almost 50% of the airline companies fly monkeys to different labs.
