Gucci kicks off Milan Fashion Week

The rain did nothing to dampen spirits at the start of Milan Fashion Week.

Kicking off a week of festivities, all was light and candy cool in the world of Gucci. Opting for a soft palette and design, Frida Giannini stuck with decidedly Gucci winter materials like leather and fur.

Waistlines were high and hemlines were short, showing off knee-high leather boots. Suits were tight-fitting, contrasting with flowing or baggy furs in warm autumnal shades.

Overall, it was a decidedly sixties vibe for this Gucci autumn-winter collection.

Italian designer Alberta Ferretti put on a fairytale, autumnal show where hemlines looked like they grew feathers, silken robes were textured like bark and coats were golden and green.

There were no primary colors at all in this collection – only “off” colours that looked as though they had been mixed by hand and brushed on by an artist.

Alpaca coats and chiffon-lined jackets also featured in this collection Ferretti said was inspired by natural luxury.
