Student slashes teacher in Osaka Sangyo University

A 21-year-old undergraduate student at Osaka Sangyo University was arrested on Sunday for allegedly slashing a 39-year-old associate professor of engineering, Kiyoaki Usami, causing serious injury to his right hand on Saturday evening. Police identified the suspect as Naoto Kiritani, using witness reports.

He was arrested the next day on suspicion of attempted murder and a violation of the Sword and Firearms Control Law. He confessed to the crime during questioning, saying that he used to be one of Usami's students. 'I found the way he taught to be very intimidating. I would have felt relieved if he was gone.'
