11 killed in Karachi blast

At least 11 police officers and dozens of people were wounded in this attack in Pakistan's southern city of Karachi.

An explosion ripped through two police vehicles in Razzaqabad, near a police training centre.

Police cordoned off the site, as officials examined the wreckage, collecting debris for clues into who was responsible for the blast.

There were more than 45 personnel on the bus on their way to resume duties.

Ambulances moved the wounded to Jinnah hospital for emergency treatment.

(SOUNDBITE) (Urdu) SPOKESPERSON OF JINNAH HOSPITAL, DR. SEEMIN JAMALI, SAYING:

"So far, we have around 37 injured people from the incident at Razzakabad police centre. All of them are police trainees. All of them are injured. We also have dead bodies. Initially eight dead bodies were brought here. But now we have 11 dead confirmed. At least 10 among the injured are in a critical condition. They have head, upper torso and limb injuries."
