Syria killing surges as peace talks stutter

More Syrians have been killed in the three weeks since peace talks began than at any other time in the civil war, according to a new report.
The British based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claims more than 230 people have been killed every day as Syrian troops shell rebel towns on the Lebanese border.
It is unclear how far the bloodshed is a result of the stuttering talks as both sides seek to improve their bargaining positions by gaining territory.
There has been little sign of a breakthrough in the second round of talks between President Bashar al-Assad’s government and the opposition.
A fresh effort is expected to be made to extend a truce to allow aid deliveries and civilians to be evacuated from the city of Homs.
