Perry asserts that he was often the victim of racial slurs and graffiti.
Among the things he’d been called were ‘rope head’ and ‘tree swinger’.
The verbal attacks turned physical in November of 2012.
Perry was sitting in the break room when one of his fellow employees immobilized him and cut locks from his hair.
The man then held the pieces up to his own head and made mocking and epithet-ridden comments.
An incident report was filed with the company, but according to Perry and the judge who later heard the case, it was woefully inadequate and produced no meaningful results.
Further, Perry began receiving threats at his residence and believes his coworkers were responsible for a death note in his mailbox and a mutilated dead rat left on his porch.
The case only made it to misdemeanor court, at which point a judge questioned why it wasn’t filed as a felony.
Perry is now pursuing a civil lawsuit against the company.
