The state of Colorado recently raised the bar on what it means to back your team.

Governor John Hickenlooper recently issued a proclamation that in honor of the Super Bowl, he will temporarily rename the state’s tallest mountains after the members of the Denver Broncos.

He made special note of the fact that Colorado has 53 mountains over 14 thousand feet high – simply called 14ers by locals – the exact number of active players on the team’s roster.

The governor also put a great deal of thought into which player was to be assigned to which peak.

As a symbolic reference to their quarterback, Peyton Manning was given the honor of being the namesake of the state’s tallest mountain, Mount Elbert.

Due to the man’s ability to deliver long kicks, Matt Prater will be the new name for Longs Peak.

Mount Lincoln is to be referred to as Winston Justice, given the humanitarian work he does in Haiti and Uganda.

Aaron Brewer will take over Kit Carson’s mountain as he, like Carson, has a knack for finding paths.

The rest of the roster along with the Governor’s humorous proclamation can be found on the state’s website, Colorado.gov.
