It’s not easy to install a viewing platform that blends effortlessly into the natural surroundings and is not too scary for the average visitor. The Top of Tyrol platform is proof that despite the complications, it can be done.

It’s suspended in the air, stretching outwards, offering visitors unparalleled bird’s eye views of the mountainous terrain. Situated on top of Stubai Glacier in a popular Austrian ski area, those who reach the platform get to see over 100 peaks “of the Stubai mountain world”.

Constructed of both rock and weathered steel, it blends into the natural property, specifically the red rocks from which it protrudes. Somehow the platform enhances the area, adding a very slight modern and streamlined touch.

Although the entire area offers plenty of activity, from skiing to hiking, the viewing platform which stands about 10,500 feet high is one of the major focal points and tourist destinations.

In order to reach the Top of Tyrol, visitors must take a gondola and then climb up a narrow staircase to reach the platform.
